Teresa McCarty is the incoming president of the Council on Anthropology and Education in the American Anthropological Association and the Alice Wiley Snell Professor of Education Policy Studies at Arizona State University. Her work has focused on language education planning and policy (particularly with respect to indigenous and language minorities), critical literacy studies, and ethnographic methods in education. She is the author of Language, Literacy, and Power in Schooling (Erlbaum, 2005), A Place To Be Navajo: Rough Rock and the Struggle for Self-Determination in Indigenous Schooling (Erlbaum, 2002), and One Voice, Many Voices - Recreating Indigenous Language Communities (with O. Zepeda, Center for Indian Education, 2006).
