Raúl Aranovich gets NSF award: "EAGER: Effective Detection of Vulnerabilities and Linguistic Stratification in Open Source Software (CNS-1445079)"

Raúl Aranovich

The grant will fund collaborative research between linguistics (Aranovich) and computer science (profs. P. T. Devanbu and V. Filkov) to explore the correlations between language use and group dynamics inside Open Source Software development communities, using natural language processing tools and corpus linguistics methods. The practical goal of the research program is to find an efficient way to identify vulnerabilities hidden inside of code, to make computer systems safer against cyberattacks. The investigators receive almost $300,000 from NSF, to be spent before October 2016.
