  • Linguistics Grad Handbook
  • The Linguistics Graduate Student Handbook outlines curriculum and student performance expectations in the UC Davis Department of Linguistics doctoral program.
    The handbook is intended to guide students through the program. It lists the work that students must complete, discusses supervision and advising, defines progress milestones, explains the dissertation process, presents an overview about financial aid, describes other aspects of the program, and identifies departmental and campus resources.
  • Career Guide
  • The Department of Linguistics has prepared a career guide to help advanced-degree candidates prepare for career positions. Titled Linguistics Careers: A Guide to Locating and Applying for Linguistics Jobs in both the Academic and Private Sectors, it includes overviews about academic and non-academic jobs, components of academic job applications, CV writing resources, letters of recommendation, job interviews, non-academic career positions for advanced linguistics degree holders, and more.
  • Ph.D. Road Map
  • Read Julia Menard-Warwick's Road Map to Completing the Ph.D., which describes the steps that students should take and recommends resources that students should consult in the various phases in pursuit of a doctoral degree: preparation for the qualifying exam; taking the examination; advancing to candidacy; and writing your dissertation.
