LIN 205C: Language Learning in Humans and Machines (Winter 2026)

Dr. Masoud Jasbi in Winter quarter will be teaching a new class on the distinctions between how humans and machines learn language. This may be a bit of a misnomer because it is still a heavily debated topic on whether or not machines like LLMs are actually "learning" language when we interact with them. Regardless, it is impossible to deny that these machines are currently closer than we have ever been.

For current graduate students, this course can count as an elective course in the "language sciences" track.

Talk to Masoud for more details.
